low-risk procedure. The risk of complications from biopsy, such as heavy bleeding, infection, and pelvic pain during the test, is very low. In addition to a closer examination of the cervix, your doctor may take a very small sample (biopsy) of any affected area of your cervix.   Activity hours / unit: Sundays and Mondays Specialized equipment of the department / unit: Colposcopy device Specialist physicians / colleagues working in: – Mrs. Dr. Ghatemeh Alikohi – Gynecologist – Dr. Jila Naseri – gynecologist

During the colonoscopy, the damaged tissues can be removed from the patient’s body at the same time as the colonoscopy. Activity hours / unit: All days of the week Specialized equipment of the department / unit: Colonoscopy device Specialist physicians / colleagues working in: – Dr. Asad Hashemi, a specialist in gastroenterology and ERCP – Dr. Ali Jafari Haidarlou, a specialist in gastroenterology and ERCP

Spirometry

Introduction of section / unit: Spirometry is a common test used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and in cases where the respiratory system has been affected for some reason. Spirometry is performed periodically to check the function of the lungs that have been treated for a chronic lung disease.   Services and specialized activities of the department / unit: Spirometry is the simplest respiratory test that is used to assess the presence or absence of pulmonary dysfunction according to history or physical examination, to assess the severity of pulmonary dysfunction in patients, to assess changes in lung function during treatment, to evaluate the effects of occupational or environmental contacts including

cigarette smoke. Dust, mineral and industrial, on lung function, determine the risk of surgery according to lung function, assess the degree of disability or lung function (for the rehabilitation of chemical patients, forensic reasons and military service).   Activity hours / unit: Daily except holidays Specialized equipment of the department / unit: Spirometry device Specialist physicians / colleagues working in: – Dr. Mahdia Gholamnejad – lung specialist

Echocardiography

Introduction of section / unit: The echocardiography department of Omid Hospital uses an echocardiogram to diagnose, manage and follow up patients with any suspected or known heart disease. Echocardiography, also called cardiac echocardiography or echocardiography, is a non-invasive method that uses sound waves to image the internal structure of the heart and is actually considered the standard for diagnosing heart disease. This method uses standard two-dimensional, three-dimensional and Doppler ultrasound to create images of the heart.   Services and specialized activities of the department / unit:   Echocardiography is usually one of the most widely used diagnostic methods in cardiovascular patients. Echocardiography can

reveal useful information such as the size and shape of the heart, pumping capacity, and the location and extent of any tissue damage. Echocardiograms can also provide physicians with other estimates of heart function, such as calculating cardiac output, ejection fraction, and diastolic function. Echocardiography is an important tool in assessing heart wall abnormalities in patients with suspected heart disease. It is a tool that helps in early detection of heart attack. An echocardiogram not only can  produce ultrasound images of heart structures, but also can  use Doppler ultrasound to make an accurate assessment of the blood flowing to the heart tissue. Colored Doppler as well as spectral Doppler are used to capture any abnormal connections between the left and right sides of the heart, blood leakage through valves (valve failure), and estimation of the number of valves open (or not open). Activity hours / unit:   every day Specialized equipment of the department / unit: Echocardiogram device   Specialist physicians / colleagues working in: Dr. Ehsan Mozaffari Cardiologist (with a specialized board) Dr. Neda Turkmani , cardiologist Dr. Leila Taghipour Thani , cardiologist Dr. Kamran Ainfar Cardiologist, International Cardiology Fellowship
